Residency Program
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Riverside Village Pharmacy in conjunction with the Belmont University College of Pharmacy (BUCOP) is a 12 month program and is an ASHP/APhA candidate-status for accreditation.
A pharmacist completing the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program will be well-prepared to serve as the next generation of patient care leaders in any outpatient setting. The experiences over the course of the year are designed to not only improve clinical skills, but develop innovative vision and leadership style vital to the advancement of pharmacy practice. Successful residents will be prepared to enter practice, pursue advanced training in a PGY2 residency or fellowship, and be prepared for board certification. Upon successful completion of the residency program, a certificate will be awarded to the resident by the college and the clinic.

About The Program
The program emphasizes outpatient clinical practice consisting of eight months of core (required) learning experiences in specific aspects of pharmacy practice and four months of elective opportunities. These core and elective learning experiences will provide the basic foundation for quality clinical practice. In addition, this program enables the resident to learn and apply teaching and research techniques.
Clinical Responsibilities
The resident will participate in safe, evidence-based, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care. All patient care activities are under the supervision of attending pharmacists and commensurate with the resident’s level of training as determined by the residency program. The resident will communicate effectively with supervising attending pharmacists regarding his/her patient evaluation, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and plan of care and intended therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the resident will provide oral and written consultations focused on improving patient outcomes and enhancing communication with the health care team.
Academic Responsibilities
The resident shall complete the Belmont University College of Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program. The resident will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and completion of a research project. Each project must be approved by the residency program director. The results will be presented at the Southeastern States Residency Conference. Upon completion of data collection and analysis, the resident will be responsible for drafting a manuscript suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
Weekend Staffing/On-Call Responsiblities
The resident will staff at Riverside Village Pharmacy a minimum of 8 hours weekly and every 4th weekend.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $50,000
Benefits: The resident is entitled to all benefits provided to full time Riverside Village Pharmacy personnel including health insurance, 10 days of paid leave, and educational/travel stipend of $2000.
